    Photo Uploads & Photo Quality

If you wish to place your images and layouts yourself without the software automatically doing it for you, please follow these simple steps:

    1. After selecting your product and template click on the blue CUSTOMIZE MY BOOK button on your right. Do not add photos at this point. Don’t worry we can upload photos once inside the editing tool. Clicking the Customize My Book button allows you to bypass the auto-fill option.
    2. If you have already uploaded your images before clicking the CUSTOMIZE MY BOOK button and the images appear in the bottom thumbnails , then just click on trash can icon on the bottom right of the page. This will delete the images from auto-fill but no worries, they will still show up in the Photo Tab in the editing tool.
    3. Once in the editing tool, open up your book and click on one of the photo placedholders. Then click on the PHOTO tab on the top left of the menu bar. You will see a Upload folder as well as an icon to upload images. If you have not already uploaded your images, this is the point at which you can upload your photos and place them into the templates as you wish.

No, you can upload as many photos as you want at once. The book templates will give you a picture count based on the current layout of that template but you can add more pages and placeholders as need. You can have to 80 spreads in our lay-flat book and up to 160 in our photo books. Upload speed will vary based on your internet speed, but most customers find the upload speed very fast due to our efficient servers.

If your photos are too small, and you have low resolution, the software will display a caution sign to alert you to reduce the size of the image in your book. Make sure your image is in “transform” mode and you can reduce to the size you need to obtain the best quality. Most images taken with a digital camera will fall into the safe range of 480 – 6,000 pixels.

For best print quality your images should be saved at 300DPI ( DPI stands for dots per inch and the dots make up your digital image). You should also keep in mind the size of the image…if your photographer saved your images as 300 DPI at a 5×7 size and you want to print a 12×12 size book, you will have to increase the size of your image to make this work…this increases the spread between your DPI which can result in poor image quality. The bet practice is to ask for images to be saved at least the size of the book you are looking to make, if not a little larger. Our largest size book is 12×12 so you are safe to ask for images that are saved at 12″ high and landscape images to be  12x 24″ wide so that they will work over a two page spread without any resolution problems.

If you wish to design your layout in your own design software you can upload the completed layout as a 300 DPI .jpg file saved in SRGB color space. Our photo uploader will take up to a 25MG image. You will then choose the “blank template” under your book style and size selection and then insert a full page or full spread layout from the layouts tab in the software. Repeat for each page layout.  Please keep the following sizes in mind as you design your templates:

    6×6 – 6 x12″ layout

    8×8- 8 x 16″ layout

    10×10 – 10 x 20″ layout

    12×12- 12 x 24″ layout

    8.5×11 – 8.5 x 22 layout

    11×8.5 – 11 x 17″ layout

Your files should be saved in the sRGB color space as 300 dpi .jpg files. sRGB gives better (more consistent) results and the same, or brighter, colors. Using Adobe RGB is one of the leading causes of colors not matching between monitor and print. sRGB is the world’s default color space.

The orange scissor icon means that you have placed a text box or image too close to the edge of the book. If this shows up on a text box it means that the text box needs to be repositioned so that no text is cut off. To fix this, click on the transform box below the text box and simply reduce the size of the text box when the orange lines appear, so that the text box does not go over the edge of the page. Please keep in mind that it is best to keep all text boxes at least 1/4 inch away from the edge of your book.

If your scissor marks appear on an image, it most likely means that you need to drag the image over the edge of the template or it will appear with a thin white line that will look out of place when the book is printed.

Please keep in mind that we cannot make changes to your order once you submit so it is very important that you pay attention to these warning icons and make adjustments before you place your order.

If you receive the warning icon over your image you are being warned by the software that your image does not have the proper resolution to print that size. You can try to make the image smaller, and this sometimes fixes the problem, or you can make sure that your images are hi-resolution 300 DPI images sized to fit the book you have selected. If your photographer gave you 5×7 images at 300DPI and you are trying to print a 12×12 size book, the 5×7 image will give you a warning if you want to enlarge it to a 12×12 size. If you are not able to obtain the correct size images from your photographer, we suggest, reducing the size of the image by adjusting the template photo placeholder or go with a small sized book.  Do not print the book with yellow warning signs, or you will not be happy with the print quality.

First create an account. This allows you to login to our web based software program, and have access to book making tools as well as your images and projects at any time from any computer. When you first register and create a project, you will then go on to select  your product. The software will then prompt you to select a template. Once the template is selected it will ask you to choose your photos. Choose your photos here if you want the software to autofill your book for you, but if you want to customize your book and choose your own layout and images, click CUSTOMIZE NOW button. This bypasses the autofill option. Open your template and click on a photo placeholder, then click on the PHOTO TAB on  your left. You will then have 3 options to upload your images as you will see below in this screen shot. If you have any issues at all uploading your images please see the Photo Upload FAQ’s or email us at support@mybridalpix.com.

Yes! We offer foil stamping on Layflat and Flush Mount albums. Foil stamping is a process in which you can personalize the cover of your book with a name or small message. We have multiple font styes and sizes to choose from. maximum number of characters will depend upon the size book and the foil stamping you selected. Your message is then stamped into the cover material with a color foil or blind debased with no color.

Currently you can add 1 line of text on front cover and one on the spine. The only cover that will not accept foil stamping on the spine is the Flush Mount Album with genuine leather. This cover has a curved spine and does not accept foil stamping at this time.

PLEASE NOTE: Foil stamped or debossed covers must be configured on the production selection page. The editing tool does not currently support editing the foil stamping in the software. If you do not like the way it looks in the software, you must go back the the selection page to redo the cover. You must be 100% sure of your cover before starting your book layout as if you want to make changes, you will need to start your layout all over again. Please see the video below for additional guidance on this process.

Eco- leather is a synthetic leather look alike. It has a clean, consistent look, and the feel of real leather (see top book in photo photo below). It’s an excellent alternative to real leather, giving you the same look for less money.

Real leather is handcrafted from leather hides and may have slight variation in the texture, adding to its natural authenticity and buttery feel. It’s truly magnificent! Our upgraded leather covers also have a more padded look adding even more luxury to your book (see bottom book in photo below). Working with real leather is a little more labor intensive and it also has a higher material cost so it’s considered an upgrade to our standard eco-leather cover.

Actually, this is wrong. Eco-leather is made of real animal hide, and the prefix “eco” refers to the tanning process (vegetable/low environmental impact). If leather is made with non-animal materials, it cannot be called eco-leather, but rather it should be called “synthetic” or “faux”/”fake”.

A spread is basically 2 pages in your book that face one another. Think of your book laying open with page 1 to your left and page two to the right on the same physical piece of paper with the fold down the middle, your book will not start with one page on the right, it will start with a full spread. When you design a layflat book in the software you will work in spreads not pages. The spread of a layfalt book is mounted back to back to create 4 pages in your book or two separate spreads. When you design albums in the software you will work in spreads not pages.

Photo Books on the other hand work in pages. When you work in the software, you will design your book in pages not spreads. The first page of the book will be on the right side of the page with pages 2 & 3 following on the next open page.

Press printed books are digitally printed with HP Indigo printing technology. To achieve optimal print quality we use the highest quality inks, on 100# semi-gloss, or matte Mohawk Superfine acid free paper. The quality and quick turn around to produce these books is very impressive. It’s a very reasonable cost for a very professional looking book. Our Soft Cover and Hardcover Photo Books are examples of this. We also offer a press printed version of our Layflat book when you choose the Matte “writable” Mohawk paper, (not Fuji  Photo Paper).

A layflat album is a book with a back-to-back binding technique that allows the pages to lay perfectly flat when open. The pages are thicker that a typical photo book and present gorgeous panoramic spreads. Our layflat albums are processed by skilled artisans using only the finest of book making materials. Choose from 2 paper choices, see below:

Photo guest book you can personalize with your engagement photos.

Layflat album with upgraded Fuji crystal archival photographic paper, eco-leather cover.

Layflat album with standard matte paper and upgraded genuine leather cover.

Some things to consider when purchasing a layflat book:

What is the paper type? Paper choice is very important. Some mass produced layflat albums are printed using a “consumer grade paper” making them inconsistent in color reproduction and more likely to fade over time. Typically, these books are press printed, which means your images are sprayed with a series of dots to make up your image.  The tonal ranges, colors and skin tones, can be compromised unless you have the right paper choice. At My Bridal Pix we offer only professional grade paper choices for layflat albums. Our top of the line Fuji Crystal Archive Lutre finish paper is the gold standard for image reproduction in the photography industry. It’s quality cannot be matched by a press printed book paper. The Fuji paper is “developed” and not press printed so your book images look like real photographs. Your blacks will be blacker and whites will be brighter, details are captured and colors will be the most accurate of any paper out there. We also offer a press printed version with our Mohawk Superfine “writable” matte paper. For a press printed paper, it offers the best in quality, consistency and color reproduction for those looking for a little better price point without having to settle for a “consumer grade” paper.

Does the layflat album have a gap or unsightly hinges in the fold of the book?  We believe a TRUE layflat book should not have any hinges with cuts or gaps down the middle of your images. Our layflat albums allow your image to float across two pages with a minimal micro fold down the center of the book, giving you gorgeous panoramic spreads!

Does the book manufacturing company offer real leather? Some companies will offer you leather covers but fail to tell you that it is a bonded leather. This is not a genuine leather hide. Bonded leather is a pulp made from shredded leather and a polyurethane coating which is embossed with a leather-like texture. We offer you a premium Italian Leather  that are REAL hides or our economical leather look alike…Eco-leahter cover.

Does the book manufacture offer you any guarantees? My Bridal Pix offers you a 100% Guarantee…if for some reason your book has a manufacture defect, we will replace it for free, no questions asked.

    Boudoir Books

This boudoir book cover template can be found in the software when you choose the Layflat and Flush Mount albums template – Black Lace. The template in the software will show an image box on the front cover, but if you just want the wording and the lips without a photo, you can delete the photo placeholder. Just click on the photo placeholder and then click delete box below the image or you can just click on the placeholder and drag it off the edge of the page.

You can also design a similar cover in any of our book styles  or templates as long as you choose a photo wrap cover. Select the background color of your choice, add a text box and choose your font style and then click on the Clip Art folder on the left and open up the LOVE tab to find the lips. Simply drag the lips onto the selected cover or page. Be sure to “select” the cover first.

For a boudoir book, some nudity can be expected but as a basic rule of thumb, keep it classy. We do not like to print anything that is offensive in nature, pornographic, no below the waist open leg or sex shots with partners. We reserve the right to reject to print anything that we find too offensive for our employees.

Your login is password protected, so only you have access to your images on the software. The server in which the images are held is military grade for your security and image protection. Images are given a alpha-numerica code thats tied to a project ID so your images are in no way associated with your name or email address on the server. We understand the sensitive nature of boudoir images and we make every effort to keep your images private during production. We also try to use a all women team at all times to process the books and a black sheet of paper will follow your book through the production line so that it is kept under cover during production. We like to think we do a pretty good job of keeping your boudoir book “under cover” during the printing process 🙂

All boudoir images shown on our website are stock photography and NOT customer images. We would never share customer boudoir images unless we were given the permission to do so with a model release form. Your images are safe with us!

We will work with as many images as you have. Some come to us with only 10- 1 5 for boudoir or guest books while others have hundreds of images for wedding albums. A good rule of thumb is to consider your budget and how much you would want to spend on your album. Good album design calls for no more than 3-5 image on a 2 page spread. Of course some pages may have less or more. Please consider the following estimates:

    20 page album – 10-30 images

    25 page album – 30-50 images

    30 pages album- 50-80 images

    35 page album – 80-100 images

    40 page album 100 – 130 images

    50 page album 130- 150 images

Images are uploaded to our Dropbox account via our Custom Album Design Form. All images should be 300 DPI .jpg files. Images that are over 25MG will need to be handled separately. If you find that some of your images did not load, please let us know and we will discuss uploading  them another way.

We charge $5.00 per spread ($2.50 per page) with a minimum of 10 spreads. Each spread is considered 2 pages. A 20-page album would be 10 spreads and the design fee would be $50.00. The Custom Album Design Form will give our designers everything they need to get started on your layout. A deposit of $50.00 is submitted along with your custom album form. This covers the cost to design 10 spreads or 20 pages. If additional layouts are needed beyond the minimum of 10 spreads/20 pages, we will invoice you for the difference after your layout is approved. Once your form is received and assigned to a designer, please allow up to 24 hours for your designer to contact you via email or phone to discuss your project. Our designers will offer unlimited design changes and work with you until you are 100% happy with the layout.

    Quality

It’s what holds your book together over-time. Less-experienced binders or ones trying to cut-corners will produce books that will not stand the test of time, and sadly fall apart. We are confident that you will not have this problem with our “library quality” book binding methods, and we stand behind ever book that we make, with a “Lifetime of use Guarantee.”

The problem you are running into is that your monitor is not calibrated. What is black to us might look gray on your monitor if you have your brightness turned way up. What looks orange on your computer at home, may very well print red because the color settings are off. If you run into this problem, a computer calibration device can be purchased at most professional photography stores or computer software retailers. To calibrate to the My Bridal Pix software, please email support to ask for our ICC profile and directions on how to calibrate.
